Theory of Change

Communities lack equitable social, political, and personal power.

Focus

We focus on:
  • Womxn
  • Young People
  • Communities affected by systemic oppression
  • Elected officials and decision makers.

Strategy

Our organizational strategies:
  • Center young people and hold physical space for their growth and healing
  • Create opportunities to develop leadership
  • Build power of our base through community engagement, political education, civic participation, and connection to broader movements
  • Build strategic alliances with organizations and movements to advance reproductive justice
  • Increase access to reproductive health services and resources
  • Educate and inform policies, policy makers, and leaders.

Change

Anticipated changes:
  • Historically oppressed communities have the equity, access and power to thrive
  • Communities inform and drive policies to dismantle systemic oppression
  • Young people and womxn belong to a unified movement addressing reproductive justice locally, statewide, and nationally
  • Decentralized personal, social, institutional and political power
  • Freedom and capacity to radically imagine and realize our full selves.

Principles

Our guiding principles:
  • Reproductive Justice
Individuals and families have access to the social, political, and economic power and resources needed to make healthy decisions to live with full autonomy.
  • Gender Justice
All people live free of gender, sexual identity, sexual orientation, and sex-based discrimination and bias.
  • Racial Justice
White supremacy is abolished from institutions and all systems, policies, beliefs, and actions center equity and justice for communities of color.
  • Accountability and Courage
Communities have the courage and resources to hold decision makers, institutions, and each other accountable.
  • Movement Building
Community members develop the leadership skills needed to make positive social change and fulfill ACT’s mission. Intentional relationships are solidified with organizations and individuals to sustain a social justice movement.
  • Restorative Healing
Together, we create a system that prioritizes rehabilitation and reconciliation that promotes social and emotional healing of individuals and communities.
  • Liberation and Equity
All people experience freedom from the limitations of oppression. We understand that true liberation is intersectional and requires the work of all people. “No one is free until we are all free!”
